Fern Creek Real Estate

Fern Creek is considered a neighborhood in Louisville Kentucky.  It is not a seperate city.  It was annexed during the Louisville Metro merger.

The oldest road in Fern Creek used to be called Stage Road.  It ran between Louisville and Bardstown Kentucky.  It is now know as Bardstown Road.  Both the Union armies and Confederate armies passed though the area during the civil war.  The Jefferson County Fairgrounds was located there until 1928.  Fern Creek used to be an agricultural community until subdivisions began developing in the 1960’s.

Fern Creek is located just south of Jeffersontown in Louisville between Highways 264 and 265.  For those interested in living there, there are plenty of homes for sale and many different price ranges available.  There are also a variety of different home styles.  Fern Creek has everything from Condominiums, Patio homes, townhouses and ranch homes, traditional two story homes and multi-level properties. Because of the incredible range of style and different size homes, home prices vary greatly.

Overall, home prices in Fern Creek range from $100,000 to over $800,000.  It helps to break home prices in the area down to specific subdivisions.  For example,  Condos in Glenmark Village and homes in Idlewood, Gainsborough, Fern Hill, Cedar meadows, Brynwood and Cedar lake Park icost between the mid to upper $100,000’s. Houses in the subdivisions Farmgate and Farmgate springs cost somewhere between the mid 100,000’s to mid 200,000’s. Homes in Adams Run, Creekview and Elliot Standiford range in price from the upper $100,000’s to the upper $200,000,  New Homes in Grey Oaks range in the $200,000’s while Chism Trail Homes are being built anywhere between the mid $300,000’s to the upper $400,000’s.  Jefferson Trace sells homes between the mid $200,000’s and the upper $300,000’s.  The Glenmary subdivision commands prices between the mid $200,000’s to over $800,000.

Fern Creek is a great place to live.  With a great history, It offers lots of shopping areas and places to eat on Bardstown Road.  It’s also easy to get around.  There are great neighborhoods there with gorgeous homes available at various prices.
