Hurstbourne Kentucky is a 4th class city. That makes it its own city within the whole of Louisville Kentucky Metro government. The population of the city of Hurstbourne was 3884 as of the two thousand census. There are only three subdivisions in the City of Hurstbourne. They are; Hurstbourne, Hurstbourne Estates, and Woodlands of Hurstbourne. These should not be confused with other neighborhoods in Louisville with the name Hurstbourne that are outside the city of Hurstbourne. Examples of these are, Hurstbourne Springs, Hurstbourne Acres, Hurstbourne Ridge, Hurstbourne Heights and Hurstbourne Woods. Even though they have the name Hurstbourne in their title, they aren’t in the city of Hurstbourne.
The size of the Hurstbourne neighborhood is 1.9 square miles. It lies within Hurstbourne Parkway with the city of Jeffersonville to the east, Shelbyville Road to the north, I-64 to the south and Oxmoor Farm and The Oxmoor Center to the west. These well designed neighborhoods are complete with winding streets, mature trees and large sidewalks. The lots are large and well groomed. Hurstbourne is an extremely nice neighborhood. Several reasons make the City of Hurstbourne great. The most notable is the Hurstbourne Country Club.
The Hurstbourne Country Club was founded in 1966, this country club was voted #1 members owned golf courses in Kentucky by Golf Digest Magazine. It features 18 hole and 9 hole golfing, a pool, tennis and an historic clubhouse and world class dining opportunities. Many homes in Hurstbourne have backyards that back right up to the golf course. There are additional fitness opportunities within the city of Hurstbourne. It’s just right around the corner. It’s called Blairwood.
Blairwood is a family oriented, full service swim, fitness club, and tennis facility. They have full court tennis courts both indoor and out. There are four pools. Some pools are full length and some are outside. They offer incredible full service instruction and services in every area including massage therapy and professional child care. Members of Blairwood also have access to louisville tennis Club.
Dining opportunities in Hurstbourne include Bob Evans, Brownie’s The Shed Grille and Bar, Olive Garden and PF Chang’s Chinese Bistro. While this may seem limited, let’s not forget Hurstbourne Parkway borders the subdivision and is loaded with a dizzying amount of restaurants, bars, grocery stores and shopping opportunities. Hurstbourne Parkway is just one reason the location of Hurstbourne is really ideal.
The Hurstborne neighborhood also snugs right up to the Oxmoor Farm and the Oxmoor Mall. The shopping at Oxmoor Mall offers stores like Von Maur, New York and Company, Brighton Collectables, an Apple store and Banana Republic just to name a few. Once the shopping is done at the mall, it’s easy to hop onto I-264 to get everywhere from the airport to downtown Louisville. Another highway option is jumping on I-64 right off of Hurstbourne parkway just a minute or two from the subdivision entrance. It’s incredible that even though Hurstbourne is tucked into it’s own little dreamy, quiet and beautiful subdivision, it’s still in the middle of everything.
The price of homes for sale in the Hurstbourne and Woodlands of Hurstbourne range from the Lower $300,000’s to the Low $500,000’s while homes in Hurstbourne Estates are higher still. The type of homes in Hurstbourne range from single story to two story to breathtakingly beautiful estates.
Hurstbourne is one of the most desirable city in Louisville to live in.
