Middletown Real Estate

Middletown Kentucky is a city located in Jefferson County Kentucky.  It occupies a little more than five square miles. Middletown is located in the eastern part of Louisville Kentucky.  Middletown’s Main Street runs parallel to Shelbyville road just east of Blankenbaker road and west of N. English Station Road.  Main Street is considered the center of Middletown.  The basic boundaries of Middletown are, west of I-265, north of I-64, East of the Douglass Hills subdivision and south of Anchorage Kentucky.

Middletown was originally chartered as a city in 1797.  It is widely believed that Middletown got its name because it is the mid-point between Louisville and Shelbyville Kentucky.  A rail line between Louisville and Shelbyville was established in 1910.  It was called the interurban.  It began to bring workers into the larger cities for work.  From that time forward middletown began to grow from a rural setting to more of a suburban community. Once commuters began driving cars in the 1930’s, Middletown began to grow at even a more rapid rate.

Middletown is a desirable place to live.  It offers an abundance of beautiful neighborhoods as well as shops and dining options on Shelbyville Road.  Southeast Christian, the largest Church in the state of Kentucky, and Eastern High School are also located in Middletown.  It’s location is roughly ten miles from downtown louisville and is easily accessible from I-64.

For those interested in living there, there are plenty of homes for sale in many different price ranges.  There are also a variety of different home styles.  Middletown has everything from Condominiums, Patio homes, townhouses and ranch homes, traditional two story homes and multi-level properties. Because of the incredible range of style and different size homes, home prices vary greatly.

Overall, home prices range from $90,000 to over $400,000.  It helps to break home prices in the area down to specific subdivisions.  For example, condominiums in Evergreen Point and Middletown Villa cost roughly $90,000, while condo’s in Canterbury Place and Swan Pointe are priced in the upper $100,000’s.  Single family homes in the Crosscreek subdivision are priced in the upper $100,000’s while the neighborhoods including Robindale, Eastgate village, Brookfield and Towne Creek have homes ranging in price from the lower to the upper $200,000’s.  Brand new homes are being built in the mid $300,000’s in the subdivision called Urton Woods, while the most expensive homes being built in the area is in a neighborhood called Willowgate.  Homes there are being built anywhere between the mid $300,000’s to the upper $400,000’s.

Middletown is a great place to live.  It offers an abundance of shops and dining options on Shelbyville Road.  The highways are easily accessible.  There are beautiful neighborhoods with gorgeous homes available at various price points.  Rich with an abundant past, Middletown offers plenty of options for those interested in living in one of the most beautiful areas in Louisville.
