Prospect Real Estate

    Prospect is a neighborhood within the Louisville Metro government of Louisville Kentucky.  A portion of Prospect is also within Oldham County.  Prospect was originally an agricultural area until the nineteen sixties when developers began building large beautiful homes in high end subdivisions.  The Prospect neighborhood continued to grow until in 1974 it incorporated as a 3rd class city.  Today, Prospect Kentucky is one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in Louisville.

    Prospect Kentucky is located Northeast of the city of Louisville.  The Ohio River borders Prospects western side.  The northeastern border is Oldham County while the Harrods Creek area creates the border in the southeast.  The main road is route 42.  I-71 is the closest highway with quick access to the city of Louisville in the South and Cincinnati Ohio only a one hour drive to the North.

    Prospect Ky offers four city parks totaling over one hundred forty acres.  Whether its Cowley Park to watch the summer music and 4th of July festivals, or having a picnic at Little Hunting Creek Park, or hiking the four miles of trails in Harrods Creek Park or bird watching and fishing in Putney Pond and The Woodlands Park, there is an enormous amount of things to see and do.  Other amenities include, fantastic schools, a private and two public golf courses, an active library, shopping and dining options and Yacht Clubs and Marinas with access to the Ohio River.

    Many beautiful neighborhoods offer breathtakingly beautiful homes.  Hunting Creek is one of the most notable prospect subdivisions.  Hunting Creek was the very first subdivision built in Prospect.  It has roughly 945 homes and its own golf course.  Access to the Estates of Hunting Creek is within Hunting Creek.  It features about 235 larger homes many of which are on the gold course.  Fox Harbor was built next with a little over 180 homes in an elevated location just across route 42 from the Prospect Point Center, a Prospect shopping center.  Also off 42, is Bridgepointe.  This subdivision has about 150 homes and a swimming pool and clubhouse with available memberships.  Harrods Landing is a unique subdivision that offers boat owners membership to Harrods Landing Yacht Club.  Members can dock their boats within eyesight of their homes.  The Landings is a neighborhood that has another 239 homes, while Smithfield Greene Condominiums and Harrods Creek Overlook offer 32 and 36 condominium style homes respectively.  Sutherland has more than 300 homes and a pair of lakes at its main entrance with fountains and water fowl.  Innisbrook is one of the newest subdivisions in Prospect.  It’s located right next to Sutherland and has about 62 homes.

    All of these subdivisions offer homes at various price points.  While condominiums can be purchased in the $100,000’s, homes in Prospect can cost over $1,000,000.  With the options of a wide range of home prices and neighborhoods, to the excellent schools, the amenities and the convenient location, Prospect continues to be one of the best neighborhoods in which to live in Louisville Kentucky.
